The Dirt Sticks Around

I told you about my big water mess last time, and today I have another lesson that hit me from that incident.

Several days after the big mess and the clean up was finished, I was downstairs where all the water came thru to the basement landing on the washer and dryer.

As I looked around, I realized I hadn’t cleaned up well enough. There was dirt hiding under all the detergents and containers on the top of the dryer. I had only done a quick wipe off and then set things back on the dryer. Days later when I pick up one of the items, I saw the mess. The quick job I had done wasn’t good enough. The fast wipe and plopping things back on didn’t do the job. The dirt had stuck around.

Have you had dirt stick around in your life?

We take our dirt to Jesus, and He makes us clean. Yet sometimes we don’t fully show Him the dirt. Even though He KNOWS it all already! Somehow we think we can hide it. We think it’s not a big deal. Sometimes we don’t fully stick out our foot for Him to clean us up. (John 13:10)

I found this in my life. I thought I had confessed all my dirt, I thought I was clean. I so called put my ‘stuff’ back on me, but the dirt was still under the things I had tried to fill my life with.

IMG_1236God revealed that I had this bitterness and anger in my life. He showed me I had to do a better cleaning job. For me, I was like a tire stuck in mud. I had lived with my dirt for so long it had become a habit. It had become a huge mud puddle, and I was trapped in it and bringing everyone around me down with me. When The Lord revealed my dirt, and I admitted to it, then I could start truly cleaning up.

I had to go thru this step-by-step process to get out of it. I went to counseling appointments. I read books. I journaled my heart out. It took time. It took lots of prayers. With God’s help that dirt came off. I became free again.

We need to take all the dirt to Jesus. Whether is is just the little specks of dirt hidden under the many things we try to fill our life with, or whether it is a big mud hole we find ourselves in. We need to run to Him. Ask Him to reveal it to us. The things we find in our life we need to work thru it the whole way. We need ask Him to clean it All out. We have to get rid of it all. He came to save us from the sin and dirt, He wants us to be clean. Clean and Free.

Search me, O God, and know my heart:
try me, and know my thoughts:
And see if there be any wicked way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting.
Psalm 139: 23 & 24 KJV
